November 4: Understanding Your Creative Vision
Objective: Help playwrights explore and articulate the core motivations and themes behind their stories.
Homework: Reflect on your play’s central theme and write a statement outlining your creative vision.
November 11: Exploring Dramatic Structure Archetypes
Objective: Discuss story elements used in drama and how they differ from other forms of expression. Introduce various dramatic structure archetypes and help participants identify which may align with their creative vision.
Homework: Analyze the structure of one of your plays or a favorite play and reflect on how it supports or hinders the story’s vision. Be prepared to talk about how this impacts your vision for your own play.
November 18: Aligning Vision with Structure
Objective: Guide playwrights in marrying their creative vision with a suitable dramatic structure for their play.
Homework: Revise or create a structural outline for your play, focusing on how it supports your creative vision.
November 25: Refining and Executing Your Structure
Objective: Provide tools and feedback to refine the chosen structure and integrate it seamlessly into the playwriting process.
Homework: Continue developing your play, using the refined structure as your guide, and prepare for further revisions.
