Audition for MORE Little Devils!

Little Devils – the inaugural production of the Helltown Players – is back! Renamed More Little Devils, this year’s festival features a new set of original short plays and represent the amazing variety and quality of theatrical works written by Cape Cod playwrights.

A collection of published award-winning plays as well as world premieres, each offers a unique worldview – entertaining, hilarious, inspiring, and heart-warming.

Convergence

During a thunderstorm in 1965, three young men from vastly different worlds meet in a Bucks County barn. As they wrestle with race, privilege, and purpose, their fleeting encounter sparks a transformative moment that resonates far beyond the storm.

Characters

Freddie - 20 year old, light-skinned Black man of decent build and somewhat rounded features, a poet
John - 19 year old, just-shy-of-legally-scrawny, white kid, struggling filmmaker
Blond Guy - 20 year old, white, wealthy, self-absorbed college student

Setting

A farm at the edge of a road in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Summer, 1965 

No Surrender

Playwright: Candace Perry
Director: Scott Cunningham

A disoriented stranger appears in a New Orleans homeless camp, claiming to have fallen from greatness. As he clashes with a veteran and a brash developer over history and identity, he challenges what it means to reckon with the past.

Characters

Robert - White man, 63, silver-haired with a trim beard, he appears to have fallen on hard times, though his speech implies education and Southern manners
George - Also white man, 67, homeless
Beau - White man, early 60’s, successful real estate developer

Remembering When I Used to Remember

A gay married couple prepares to renew their vows at the beach in Provincetown as memories are lost and found and past secrets resurface. Remembering When I Used to Remember is a humorous and heartwarming story of love’s endurance in the face of time and imperfection.

Tucker - Gay man in his 50s or 60s
Marty - Gay man in his 50s or 60s. Married to Tucker.
Jimmy - Gay man in his early 40s. A nurse

Provincetown, Massachusetts
Memorial Day Weekend 2024

Rolando

Playwright: Wendy Watson
Director: Florence Heller

A subway ride in 1985 becomes a haunting journey through memory, grief, and humanity. A man searching for connection and a young woman grappling with guilt tell parallel stories that ask: When faced with suffering, will we look away or reach out?

Characters

Rolando - BIPOC male over 50 – and they’ve been a hard 50 years. He has been through hard times but doesn’t inflict them on others. Just gets by best he can.
GIrl - Caucasian female, 30s. Bright, caring, and struggling with her values. She is telling her story in memory. Rolando is part of that memory.

1985

The Pros and Cons of Implosion

Playwright: R. D. Murphy
Director: Mary Arnault

Allie is a whip-smart high school senior who is a car whisperer. She wants to restore her neighbor’s Volvo which has been left to rust for 20 years. Simple plan, right? Depends on what you know about implosion.

Characters

Allie - 18 whip-smart high school senior who is mechanically inclined. Give her a screwdriver and a cell phone and she’ll solve any problem. Give her a 3D printer and a place to stand...
Mr. Gordon - 50-something, the neighbor who has always lived there yet never moved beyond a nodding acquaintance.

Setting

The sidewalk in front of the one-car garage attached to MR. GORDON’s house in an older, densely settled, suburban neighborhood north of Boston.

Colour My World

Playwright: Melinda Buckley
Director: Judith Partelow

At a small-town bus stop, a woman encounters someone from her past who is just out of reach in her memory. Colour My World is a tender tale of love, loss, and the fleeting clarity that brings hearts together.

Characters

Nancy Ripley - 55-60 years old
Malachy -  60 years old,
Janine -  40 years old, a home health aide

Venues and Dates

Little Devils will be performed at three venues:
Cape Rep Theatre (March 28 - 30)
The Academy of Performing Arts (April 4, 5, 11, 12)
The Pilgrim House Provincetown (April 17 - 20)

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will start in early February and run up to opening night. Helltown Players asks that actors be available during this time to rehearse. Schedules will be formed to meet the needs of the actors, directors, and playwrights.

Rehearsals will take place at convenient locations for the actors, directors, and playwrights.

Non-Equity

Due to budgetary considerations, Helltown Players will not be casting Equity actors for this production. We are a new production entity and we will need to keep an eye on our production budget for More Little Devils.

We have hopes that very soon, our success will enable us to hire Equity actors for our productions. We hope all you wonderful Equity actors out there will understand!

Compensation

Helltown Players will pay each actor a total of $200.00 for their rehearsal work and performances for the run of the production (this includes all venues.)
This is $200 per role. Example: If the actor is cast in two roles that will be $400.00 total.

  3. The form will allow you to upload your actor bio, indicate the roles you are interested in playing, and choose dates and times you can audition. The form will explain how it all will work.
